‘From Page to Podcast’ was a short radio play competition that ran in 2019. It invited writers from around the UK to submit a radio play to be performed and recorded by actors in training. 

The guidelines were that it had to be a new radio plays between 15 and 20 minutes in length that had a minimum of 6 central characters (with the opportunity of further supporting characters who don’t have more than a few lines each). 

We received a number of different entries and the judging panel shortlisted the 4 plays below. All plays were recorded at Orpheus Studio in July 2019.

This Absence of Mine

Have you ever considered that replacing your free time with other people's thoughts might be a bad idea? 

 

Starring Katie Jarman as Diana, Frankie Cianfini as The Voice, Josh Warden as Justin, Jazz Sewsanker as the Narrator, Jade Foster as Podcaster 1 and Hannah Howland as Podcaster 2.

The Deep End

After a disagreement with her sister, Alicia finds herself swept up by a charming but mysterious stranger. But is he all that he seems? 

 

Starring Jessica Protheroe-Jones as Alicia, Victoria Beavis as Max, Milan as Georgia, Kirkby Stephen West as Nathan, Georgia Rose as Bee, Samuel Jackson-Hale as Luca, Charlie Dade as Father and Police Officer 1 and Ben Wiginton as Child and Police Officer 2.

Flatmates

Emily, a first-year university student, moves into a flat with three other people, Georgia, Laura and Ethan. The struggles of student life prove too much for Emily and she is driven to drastic measures to restore tranquility. 

 

Starring Liv Woodall as Emily, Sarah Melanie as Mum, Holly Willow as Georgia, Joshua Richardson as Ethan, Hannah Golding as Laura and Ben Wiginton as the Doctor.

Fixed
by Melissa Addey

A sci-fi play which wonders what would happen if a medical issue was fixed just a little too fast to check what the side-effects might be. 

 

Starring Ochea Donaghy as Eva, Abi King as Mary, Callum Bultitude as Newsreader/Policeman/Sport channel announcer, Lucy Kate as Lawyer/Model/Nurse, Ashleigh Louise as Professor/Girl/Journalist and Robbie Whittock as Man/News reader/Player.
